A group of 11 young men from Enniscorthy succesfully paddled from the riverside slip in the town to Ferrycarrig in a handmade craft that they had built in just three days. Using timbers, screws, willow and canvas the boat was constructed in record time with the guidance of community based artisit Andi McGarry. ‘It was hard work but we made it’ said Patrick O’Sullivan of the epic voyage which took place on Friday. The men involved have been out of work in recent times and got together to discuss potential training courses as well as opportunities for sport, exercise and skills development. Currently the group meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays and upcoming activities include Communications, FAI Kick Start Training and soccer. For more information contact Diarmuid Doolan on 0871216802
