LEADER Funding for Enterprises

A core objective of the 23-27 LEADER Programme is to support economic development and create and sustain rural employment.  When preparing grant applications for LEADER funding, please consider how your project will positively contribute to these objectives.

In a change from previous LEADER programmes, grant aid will be confined to businesses operating in food, tourism or circular and bio economy initiatives.  

  • Applicants must have less than 250 employees and be operating in County Wexford
  • New and existing niche food and beverage businesses 
  • New and expanding niche businesses engaged in circular and bio economy initiatives
  • New and existing niche tourism businesses 

Types of projects that can be funded:

  • Construction works including extensions, refurbs and fit outs (up to 60% grant aid)
  • Purchase of equipment and machinery (up to 60% grant aid)
  • Development of marketing materials (up to 60% grant aid)
  • Analysis & development e.g. feasibility studies (up to 90% grant aid)

Please note – any project activity undertaken or started prior to application or the date of the signed acceptance of the contract, will not be eligible for LEADER funding.
