The Council & Community Awards are a prestigious national event which are organised annually by LAMA, the Local Authority Members Association. The awards recognise the best work undertaken in Ireland by community organisations and councils. Local projects throughout the country are nominated for adjudication and the very best are selected to attend the annual awards ceremony in Dublin where the winners in each category are announced. This year Templeudigan Park was selected as the winner of the Best Public Park category despite stiff competition from five other worthy finalists.

Templeudigan Park is a community owned facility which was developed by Templeudigan Parish Council. It includes a walking track, lawn, picnic area, bowling green, adult exercise equipment and childrens playground. It has proven to be extremely popular and is a testament to the community spirit of this active rural community. Wexford Local Development was happy to support the development of Templeudigan Park and provided grant aid under the LEADER National Rural Development Programme.

This is the second time that a project funded by Wexford Local Development under the LEADER programme has won this prestigious national title. The success of Templeudigan Park follows on from previous winners Le Cheile Park in Askamore. Wexford Local Development is proud to support both of these vibrant rural communities.
