Enterprise

Wexford Local Development provides a range of enterprise supports to individuals who are interested in becoming self employed and setting up their own business.  WLD endeavours to support enterprise development among individuals who are unemployed, small holders, rural dwellers, farmers and rural enterprises. 

The range of supports includes pre-enterprise supports and training, assistance with the development of a business plan and enterprise advice and guidance and in some instances grant assistance.  WLD also provides a range of aftercare services such as business skills training and information workshops which will benefit clients. 

WLD administers the Back to Work Enterprise Allowance Scheme on behalf of the Department of Social Protection through which financial assistance is provided to individuals setting up their own business.  Individuals applying for support under this scheme should be currently unemployed and meet certain eligibility criteria.

WLD administers the National Rural Development Programme and with a budget of €12.5 million provides grant assistance to new and developing innovative businesses.  The main focus of the NRDP is to promote economic activity, job creation, generation of additional and alternative incomes in rural areas and the implementation of innovative approaches to rural development at local level.  It also aims to support diversification in to non agricultural activities.

The Back to Work Enterprise Allowance Scheme provides an incentive for an individual who wants to become self employed and is currently unemployed to receive financial supports for up to 2 years from the DSP subject to certain eligibility criteria   more info
