Children & Young People
Every community that Wexford Local Development works with expresses a need to improve opportunities for children and young people. This is not surprising as the last census recorded over 48,000 people 25 years or younger in County Wexford.
Young people have become increasingly marginalised and are often viewed negatively or as a problem. We believe that the inclusion of young people is vital for the development of healthy communities.
To this end Wexford Local Development has a history of working in partnership with local communities, supporting a range of positive responses to the needs of young people. This work has included the development of community childcare facilities, childcare training, after school groups, youth clubs and projects, study supports for leaving certificate students and outreach work with vulnerable young people.
